Christmas Present #2: 2008 Garritan Community Christmas Album

The 5th Annual (2008) Garritan Community Christmas Album (an entire CD of recorded songs) is available for free download. From the Garritan website [http://garritan.com/Xmas.html]: "A community of musicians from all over the world met on the Garritan community forum and agreed to submit their own recordings of holiday music, to be freely distributed." Each song was recorded by by a different person using sampled musical instruments from the Garritan libraries. Using sampled instruments is sort of like using an electronic paintbrush to "paint" songs. The musicians dipped their brushes into various "paint pots," each containing the sounds of different real instruments. They used these sampled sounds to compose different versions of popular Christmas songs. The results sound quite good to my non-musical ear: well worth downloading!
